Universal macOS Preview Build

Universal macOS support has arrived..

... and it works! Mostly.

Our macOS build's been tested on two setups; one on Intel hardware and the other on Apple Silicon. Both systems were running macOS Monterey Version 12.1 and the game was played with an Xbox controller in addition to your standard mouse and keyboard.

Test Setup #1
Mac Mini (2020)
Apple M1
8GB RAM

Test Setup #2
MacBook Pro (2020)
2.0 Ghz Intel Core i5 (10th Gen)
Intel Iris Plus Graphics
16GB RAM

While both setups performed without any major issues, we definitely can't guarantee that it'll run without a hitch on your Mac specifically, but the closer your system's specs align with either of the tested setups, the higher the likelihood of your experience being enjoyable.

Additionally, we wouldn't recommend using a controller to play, since we did - unfortunately enough - run into enough issues while using one for input to warrant a word of caution. Your mileage may vary, of course, but you probably shouldn't expect the experience to be all that terrific.

Windows will remain our main platform of development going forward, but we also wanted to try and provide a version for people on other operating systems whenever possible. So while we can't promise a perfect version on non-Windows platforms, at least we can do this much.

Thanks,

- Lauri/KULT OF KREB

KNOWN ISSUES

- Issues rebinding keys on Mac-specific keyboards (Apple Magic Keyboard, etc.). Command, option, control and shift keys aren't recognized if trying to bind them to an action.

- Using a controller leads to stuck inputs, switched axes and unresponsive controls. Tested on an Xbox Series X Controller via bluetooth.
